Ideal-Gas Approach to Hydrodynamics

چکیده

Transport is one of the most important physical processes in all energy and length scales. Ideal gases hydrodynamics are, respectively, two opposite limits transport. Here, we present an unexpected mathematical connection between these limits; that is, there exist situations solution to a class interacting hydrodynamic equations with certain initial conditions can be exactly constructed from dynamics noninteracting ideal gases. We analytically provide three such examples. The first examples focus on scale-invariant systems, which generalize fermionization strongly determine specific for perfect density oscillations harmonic trap. third example recovers dark soliton one-dimensional Bose condensate. results explain recent puzzling experimental observation ultracold atomic by Paris group make further predictions future experiments. envision extensive ideal-gas approach found systematical numerical search, find broad applications different problems various subfields physics.

Toroidal bubbles with circulation in ideal hydrodynamics: a variational approach.

Incompressible, inviscid, irrotational, unsteady flows with circulation Gamma around a distorted toroidal bubble are considered. A general variational principle that determines the evolution of the bubble shape is formulated. For a two-dimensional (2D) cavity with a constant area A, exact pseudodifferential equations of motion are derived, based on variables that determine a conformal mapping o...

Effective Field Theory of ideal-fluid Hydrodynamics

Starting from a standard description of an ideal, isentropic fluid, we derive the effective theory governing a gapless non-relativistic mode—the sound mode. The theory, which is dictated by the requirement of Galilei invariance, entails the entire set of hydrodynamic equations. The gaplessness of the sound mode is explained by identifying it as the Goldstone mode associated with the spontaneous...

Simple Waves in Ideal Radiation Hydrodynamics

In the dynamic diffusion limit of radiation hydrodynamics, advection dominates diffusion; the latter primarily affects small scales and has negligible impact on the large scale flow. The radiation can thus be accurately regarded as an ideal fluid, i.e., radiative diffusion can be neglected along with other forms of dissipation. This viewpoint is applied here to an analysis of simple waves in an...

Ideal Gas Law

Ideal gases are gases in which the particles of the gas only interact through elastic collisions; there are no intermolecular forces between the particles. Real gases can approximate ideal gases at conditions of low pressure and high temperature where the intermolecular forces are negligible. Under those conditions the equation of state for an ideal gas holds: PV=nRT (1) where the pressure (P) ...
